When invited to this show, many artists had already been working with trees as a theme. They found an easy and natural connection. I think this is reflective of most everyone. There is a deep seated natural connection to the earth in the form of a tree. Trees link heaven and earth. Their roots draw water and minerals from the earth, and their leafy crowns convert sunlight into the air we breath. In the great balance of things they not only cling to the earth but bind it together maintaining watershed and temperature control. It is a system we cannot match in beauty or ingenuity. Trees are a sign of health and abundance, a gift to the land.
