As with most artists, the events and rhythms of life that move around us and within us eventually find their way into our artwork.
Dance is the earliest of human art forms, and we dance for many reasons — ritual, celebration, seduction, story telling, pure emotive expression. We dance for the joy of movement and rhythm. We dance for healing and for enlightenment. Some (Salome) dance with murder in their hearts.
The ‘last dance’ can signify many things: passion, the late hour, the end of something, reluctance to complete a joyous task, the onset of change.
The collaborative activities of the Dovetail Art Gallery has been a joyous task and allowed me to ‘dance’ with the community of Silverton. The Dovetail will be making some changes, moving some of its operation to Portland, undergoing some permutation of creative change that has yet to be uncovered.
My thanks to everyone who participated and have supported us. Special thanks to Judy Yriarte and her Prudential Real Estate Professionals office. They are wonderful. You can still find the gallery at dovetailartgallery.com. Look for our Mt. Angel College ‘aluminatti’ reunion exhibit in October — location to be announced.
