“Shadow of my Hand” by Ken Cohen (enamel painting, 38″×27″) – NFS

Ken Cohen’s work is at once vibrant, playful, and mysterious. His mixed media paintings, sculpture, and prints are a blend of contemporary materials and techniques that draw on primitive and archetypal imagery. The diversity in mediums makes for interesting contrast in forms and scale while the artist’s techniques moves freely across mediums. You will see a painting technique show up on a sculpture or even a photo transfer. Sculpture is imprinted; paint is carved. The end result is that technique, color palette, imagery, and concepts present an intensive and cohesive body of work. This is artwork to contemplate as you drift off at night or to meditate on as your coffee percolates and you prepare for the day. It does not give up its secrets and yet there remains an echo of the known.
