Battin states, “The creative process is a way to engage and make sense of the world.” Sometimes her images come from the simple basics of sunlight defining or revealing a form, sometimes from the complexities in pattern and movement that arise from larger structures beyond the picture plane. The intense study of the subject, whether it is a sleeping figure or a still life, result from her effort to translate the truth of the subject into drawing or paint. Her intense pictorial studies allows us to focus on the intimate details in the folds of a fabric, the gesture in the hand, or a tree limb cast in shadow as it reaches towards the sky.

The owner/operator of Dovetail Design and Art Gallery, Patricia Battin earned her BFA from the University of Connecticut and MAT from Willamette University. She has taught art for the last ten years with the Salem Keizer School District. Battin’s art work has been exhibited at Chemeketa Community College, the Bush Barn Gallery, Silver Creek Art Gallery, and at the Dovetail Art Gallery. She works from her studio home in Silverton, Oregon.
